SPHERES Solo exhibition at Galleria KONE Hämeenlinna, 2018
SPHERES 24.11. – 18.12.2018.
Seaweed drifts in a stream, a chromosome unfolds, dust floats at the edge of the eye, dim light pollution in a telescope, mold expands in a petri dish, a river branches in a satellite image, a cucumber slice in a microscope, a fly’s brain registers a petal.
The retina of an insect or the lens of a telescope perceives something that humans cannot see. Flow, spread, growth, flowering, and decay are processes that share the same world as pigment and turpentine. They follow repeated paths and structures in nature.
Repetitive circular motion occurs everywhere and at all scales. When something is formed, something inevitably also breaks down. Some of this change is so slow or fast, so small or large, that it cannot be detected.
